Workshop Description
Using the anatomy of the ear as a guide this workshop will focus on dancing while attuning the body and voice to the inner, middle, and outer ear. These investigations into attunement will be the basis of moving in and out of different frequencies of sound, vibration, momentum, and stillness. Let's play with dancing and vocalizing in peripheral space, disorientating momentum, decomposing dance, and finding quietude. Let's play! Listening is the basis of this work. Attuning to the grief and wonder of this current moment and allowing gentleness to permeate ones' practice is the invitation.
[Image Description: Dancer with light blue jumpsuit standing on top of the risers in a theater close to a cement block wall. Arms are outstretched, head is facing up in a gesture of surrender. The dancer’s torso is facing forward but left leg is in a sideways forward position while the right leg is back creating shadow against the wall along with the arm. Light is shining down on the dancer and two shadows mark the wall in the shape of a triangle in either side of dancer.]
