About this workshop:

These classes will utilize the skills and disciplines of the study of Contact Improvisation to dimensionalize and reinforce the solo dance as a state of readiness towards reflexive and responsive action. Composing with the physics of touch, momentum, balance, gravity, levity and the imagination, we will re-invent the kinetic wheel (again) and create the remote proximity of dancing together. This is a mixed level class; Commitment to improvising within this form a must.

K.J. Holmes is a dance artist, actor, singer, writer, teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. She travels worldwide teaching and performing, and now has the great fortune to travel from home to teach on Zoom. She has been teaching through Movement Research since 1985 and also teaches at NYU/ETW among other universities. "Having practiced Contact Improvisation since 1981, I have the direct experience of discovering my own inner volume and expressiveness towards not only partnering, but soloing, ensemble/ing and the application of this towards improvising, choreography and more formalized techniques, as well as the being of human."
