About this class:
Klein Technique™ is a system that allows movers of all kinds and levels to achieve more fluidity and ease of movement. The depth to which an individual explores the work in class can be as simple as learning to stretch safely, releasing unnecessary tension, but also as complex as expanding one's range of motion, increase technical facility, and learn from and heal an injury. The work deepens body awareness, and deepens body understanding. It increases creativity and expression. We connect to the earth through our legs, stride into our life with purpose and confidence. Ongoing class offers time—the time to work, to process, to learn. To simply learn to be.
In Klein Technique™ we work at the level of the bone, the simplest and deepest structure in the body and use its clarity, its density and its energy. Engaging on this level allows us to drop in under the layers of muscle that holds us in set postural configurations which in turn limits our movement.The work we do in class focuses on deep connections of support through our skeleton. Freeing the legs and spine, connecting the pelvis to the legs, the upper body to the lower body, the feet to the ground, and the skull to the feet. We focus on grounded-ness by first learning to stand the pelvis on top of the legs to help us be truly upright, aligned to the forces of gravity. Building on this principle, we explore the deep muscles of postural support—the hamstrings (sitz bones to the heels), the external rotators, the psoas and the tail to pubic bone/tail to heels. In daily class we address these principles in layers, building our foundation, interweaving theory and practice.
What you need for this class:
- Space to lie down and to walk around a little bit
- A comfortable surface to lie on
- Perhaps a book to sit on for a sitting stretch
