In the center of the image is a b&w rectangular box showing a close-up of two eyes (Cardona’s). This is superimposed over a mandala-like image consisting of one large circle of words in blue - “This dance is the last dance I will ever make” and “My last dance is the last dance I will ever make” - and multiple lines of words in red radiating out from the center. Where the words begin in the center looks like the shape of a heart. Image by Wally Cardona with photo by Peggy Kaplan.

This class practices/investigates the relatedness of Klein Technique™, receptivity and positions of consciousness – moving through the world in a heightened state of performance.

“When I first began studying Klein technique with Susan Klein and Barbara Mahler more than 30 years ago, I had just graduated from The Juilliard School, where I had learned about my body by studying existing vocabularies of dance. Klein Technique opened an alternate route to self-knowledge that led to a level of movement potential I hadn’t experienced before.

Classes are verbally guided while anatomical realities and underlying principles are shared. It works at the level of the bones, to align the bones using the muscles of deep postural support. Touch is used as a form of feedback.

But really, it is one’s understanding through one’s own body-felt experience that is most important. This is the learning. The internal knowing. It is ever-changing. And it takes practice.”
