Qi Gong is the somatic and energetic practice of Five Element Theory/Traditional Chinese Medicine. Much like tai chi, it is used as a practice to create balance and longevity in the body to fully meet the world. This open-level, morning class will function as a practice to activate and cultivate the inner energy (qi) to prepare you for your day. We will explore practices that work with the organs, the meridians, and the many systems of the body (bones, muscles, ligaments, fluids) to move qi, get grounded, and build inner strength.
What to expect:
These classes are open level qi gong practice sessions. They are structured as experiential time to work with the five elements and the qi within to connect to the five elements and the qi out in the world. Classes will be standing, seated, and sometimes lying down. There will be no props or music. I would suggest wearing comfortable clothing so that you can move with ease while practicing. Since the class is in the morning, we will also focus on “waking” up the energy so that is can be harmonized with the day. Movements won’t be overly complex, but with repetition that can feel strenuous at times. However, everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace and can shift the actions to support their needs as they practice.
