Morning Class: Vortex

A vortex is commonly known as the swirling, spinning, or circular motion of a fluid around a common centerline. Throughout history, humans have drawn upon vortex principles to induce a trance state, an altered form of consciousness, and psycho-spiritual embodiment. In this class, we will delve into questions and experiences of body/mind ancestry through breath work, movement, and creativity. We will practice the different mechanisms and concepts of vortex movement such as velocity distribution, vorticity (curvature), and circulation in relation to proprioception, anatomical planes (sagittal, transverse, frontal), and axes of movement.

What to expect:

  • Breath work and vocalization
  • Movement technique (Vortex)
  • Sound experience and stimuli
  • Writing and drawing
  • Improvisation and choreographed variations
  • Inclusion, care and solidarity
