MELTeen

Movement Research invites teachers in the New York metropolitan/tri-state area to nominate students that will be rising high school seniors during the MELTeen Scholarship period. The nominated students receive an invitation to apply for the scholarship opportunity. Applications are submitted through an online application form. Application details are outlined below.

Scholarship recipients participate in 2 weeks of Movement Research’s Summer MELT workshop intensive. Each week, scholarship recipients will attend two workshops per day Monday through Friday at Movement Research in New York City’s East Village neighborhood. Scholarship recipients are required to attend all 5 days of the workshops both weeks.

The MELTeen Scholarship covers: 

  • Full cost of 4 workshops over 2 weeks
  • Transportation stipend – Recipients are expected to arrange their own transportation each day to and from Movement Research workshop locations in New York City’s East Village.
  • Lunch will be provided Monday through Friday between the morning and afternoon workshops. 
  • A designated Movement Research staff person will meet with participants daily for the duration of the program and will be available leading up MELT to support scholarship recipients with any questions.
  • Meetings with workshop faculty and MELTeen scholarship cohort.

About MELT

Movement Research’s Summer MELT intensive is a series of daily workshops in technique, somatics, improvisation, composition and other areas. These workshops provide students with the unique opportunity to engage with some of the most highly regarded and innovative artists in the field of dance today.

10:00am-12:00pm  Contemporary Technique Workshop*

12:00-12:55pm       Lunch

1:00-3:00pm           Somatics or Improvisation Workshop*

3:15-4:15pm           Scholarship participants meeting (Thursdays only)
