Morning Class
JEREMY NELSON TEACHES ON 2/26. My class offers an open space for the sharing of knowledge that has resulted from my practice of several somatic techniques. We will focus on breath, internal structure, weight and the body’s articulations and organization, as a way to fine-tune our own needs and our own range of mobility. We will move in this collective space through improvisations and set phrase material.

Morning Class
We will practice growing a new body, a utopian body, a sensational body, an anarchic body. We will practice being in pleasure and giving our bodies a voice by being and knowing in our flesh, our bones, our guts, our skin, our sex... with eyes that see without naming and see without knowing.

Movement Research at Eden's Expressway
Morning Class
This class uses guided improvisations and simple exercises, inspired by Boulé’s studies of numerous somatic and energetic modalities, to find a maximally informed and creative approach to dancing, where everyone has space to honor their own unique systems for movement. Class ends with the application of this information to choreographed phrase work.

Movement Research at Eden's Expressway
Morning Class
We will use both improvisational scores and simple set exercises to find awareness, connection, and articulation in our movement. We will learn a phrase and mess with it, by aiming at it and failing at it, following the failure and expanding the success, and by responsive/immersive watching of others dancing it.

Movement Research at Eden's Expressway
Morning Class
Class moves smoothly from floor to standing, focusing on correct alignment and gaining a sense of fluidity in the joints. Dancers will develop an understanding of the connections between their body and the floor and will explore using weight, momentum and breath to experience full dancing with the least amount of muscular tension.

Morning Class
This class will dedicate itself to spatial and corporeal awareness through clarity and precision. Inviting ourselves to observe, enhance, abandon and rediscover movement patterns, qualities and focal points in order to stay alert in the present moment. Through a gentle warm-up, we will transition to a pre-conceived phrase encouraging individuality.

Morning Class
This class provides maintenance for working performers (it’s basically a warm-up). Exercises for range and energetic specificity are done to open up movement in our bodies. We’ll work with effort, restoration, and balance so that those connections are made for the day. We’ll also improvise, to check in with feeling.

Morning Class
Technique/Exercises in Composition: This class is designed to access multiple threads at once such as: greater range of motion and articulation; isolated and momentum-driven movement forms; sense of scale, rhythm, alignment, ascent and descent; and dancing that supports a balanced square orientation over a vertical axis while traversing through space and shifting off center in a mode that reflects a play between athleticism, performance, and a particular disposition.

April 19 - April 28
Tuesday, Thursday
10:00 am-12:00 pm $14
Danspace Project
Morning Class
Class warm up will draw from a range of somatic practices to prepare our bodies and minds to dance with clarity, articulation, and expressivity. Using dynamic anatomical imagery to increase ease, efficiency, freedom, and power in movement. Inside of choreographed material we will focus on seeing and allowing ourselves to be seen; letting the internal logic of the body come to the forefront; dancing for and with each other as a method towards the development of an intimate understanding of our individual physicality. Emphasis will be placed on directing our attention and intention towards creating an optimal space for cultivating awareness, and access to choices and imagination in our dancing. NO CLASS ON APRIL 21.

Movement Research at Eden's Expressway
Morning Class
This movement class will develop from simple skeletal mobility sequences to full-out movement forms. Emphasis will be placed on the joints, examining how range of motion relates to alignment, support, weight, pathway and qualitative detail in the course of movement. NO CLASS MAY 30

Morning Class
Both laboratory and technique class, we will delve into the body’s architecture and its unique potential. Through stretch and placement, technique studies, and movement phrases, habits will be discovered and challenged. Concentrating on the forces through the legs will lead to finding more range and weight in the body.

Morning Class
We'll begin slowly with simple exercises and scores influenced by my ongoing studies in fascia and energetic and somatic modalities, then moving on to improvisations and set phrase material. We’ll consider methods and questions for ourselves around vulnerability, rebellion, ability and perceived lack of ability. This class is a supportive permissive space meant to deepen our practice and availability to our own work as performers. We will explore the body as our teacher and seek to better understand our choices, seeing the dancer as also a maker. NOTE: NO CLASS FRIDAY JULY 15 AND FRIDAY JULY 29.
