Morning Class
We will take the time to investigate different states of physical awareness by using a three-fold structure. We will begin with a guided improvisation to observe the body and its natural movements through awareness of breath, weight, tension and release, taking time to notice the bodyâs qualitative presence moment-by-moment. We will follow by dancing within technical forms to support our range and work as dancers. We will conclude with a phrase that integrates concepts of weight, lightness, initiation and intention. The merging of the unconscious life of movement through observation and improvisation and the conscious attention to physical direction is part of the energizing practice we will explore in each class.

Morning Class
Using improvisational and set warm-ups, we will focus on the volume and weight inside the body and its relationship to the floor. Exercises that bring awareness to the feet, spine, and pelvic floor encourage the feeling of release in the limbs, allowing us to fall and suspend off-center, simultaneously finding a grounded flexible base of support. Using these physical tools, we will explore sensation, instinct, and the inherent musicality inside the body, phrasing. All the while dancing, we will work toward a more grounded and direct approach to movement.

Morning Class
Class is an opportunity to create the space to fully inhabit our bodies and integrate various approaches and concepts of embodiment into our movement and artistic practice. Class usually begins slowly, with imagery and gentle preparation culled from various somatic traditions that access our awareness of the senses, the organs, the skeleton, the cells, gravity, and various other energetic forces. Class may also include technical exercises, choreographic structures (âœphrasesâ), improvisations, and performance constructs, with a focus on precision, imagination, and the cultivation of each studentâs individual approach to embodiment.

Morning Class
This class will dedicate itself to promoting spatial and corporeal awareness through clarity and precision. Inviting ourselves to observe, welcome, enhance, abandon and rediscover movement patterns, qualities, focal points, personal habits and preferences in order to stay alert in the present moment. Through a gentle warm up, using a series of set exercises, we will transition to a pre-conceived phrase to share experiences while encouraging individuality.

Morning Class
The class will begin with an anatomy focused warm-up, drawn from both traditional and recent techniques, aiming to align and re-pattern the energy flow in the body in order to find support from the floor and our connection into space. We will begin with simple movements, improvisation scores, exercises, and sequences gradually building in complexity. We will learn movement material, some from Jasperse's work and some created for these explorations. Our goal will be to integrate energetic patterning explored in the first portion of class and to play with different manners of experiencing and embodying the choreographic material.

Morning Class
This class offers an open space to observe and experience our own particularity and range of mobility, and fine tune our own needs. Through directed exercises, weâll focus on the breath, internal structure, weight, and the bodyâs articulations and organization. At the end of the class a phrase is provided as a frame for processing the information provided. My class is influenced by my many years of work with Jeremy Nelson and my studies of several somatic techniques.

Morning Class
Beauty, awkwardness, form, strength, weakness. Intended as both laboratory and class, we will delve into the design of the body and its potential within a given moment. Through stretch and placement, technique studies, movement phrases and open practices, habits will be discovered, challenged, and seen through a new lens. A concentration on the forces through the legs will lead to finding more range in separate body parts and ways to use weight into the floor.

Morning Class
This class is designed to access multiple threads at once such as: greater range of motion and articulation, isolated and momentum-driven movement forms, sense of scale, rhythm, alignment, ascent and descent, and dancing that supports a balanced square orientation over a vertical axis while traversing through space and shifting off center in a mode that reflects a play between athleticism, performance, and a particular disposition.

Morning Class
The class encourages students to increase their movement possibilities and take risks in dancing by maximizing the benefits of the warmed-up body. The warm-up moves smoothly from floor to standing with a strong focus on anatomy to strengthen connections of correct alignment with an increase of fluidity in the joints. Dancers will explore the use of momentum, gravity and breath to execute full dancing with the least amount of tension and feeling free.

Weâll look at different ways of approaching âdance technique' -- energy systems, physical systems, spatial relationships, contact and non-contact partner and solo improvisations, set exercises and movement phrases. I take my current somatic, dance, and performance interests and apply them to a movement practice. A maximally informed approach to dancing. A space of respectful, creative permission for everyoneâs bodies. A time to really let things move in all senses of the word.

Morning Class
This class focuses on the inherent dynamic and organizational logic of the moving body to become more present in our dancing. We will encourage our instructive and directive intentions to succumb their influence to a listening and responding/responsible self. Our warm up will help us become familiar with our range of effective force, momentum, coordination, weight and balance. In turn, we will dive into phrase material that emphasizes kinetic and energetic simplicity within complex and multilayered forms.

We will practice being in pleasure and giving our bodies a voice. A practice of growing a new body, as one would grow a plant; a utopian body; a sensational body; a connected body; an anarchic body; a body full/filled with pleasure, with love and with magicââââ. with a brain that melted down to the flesh, the bones, the guts, the skin... and with eyes that see without naming and see without knowing.

Morning Class
Class will begin with systematically readying an alert body and mind for full-out and detailed dancing, which we will do in the second part of class. The goal is to help each dancer increase awareness, level of articulation, strength, technical facility and focus. The warm-up is simple and straightforward with an emphasis on alignment, physical mechanics, and space for sensation and feedback from our bodies as we work collaboratively to arrive at dancing. Through the practice of doing phrase work with a wide range of physicality and coordinations, we hone our skills, apply our training and deepen the understanding and intelligence in our bodies.

No class July 3. We are not just a body or a mind. We are unique individuals with spirit and intelligence. The work we do in class engages us in a process which facilitates change, and we work to become grounded. Here lies our power. Approaching improvisation as a culture, this class will locate (dis)organization as a somatic and political gesture. We will consider improvisation as aggressive as technique, as rigorous as choreography, as expansive as performance and as complex as relating to one another. Together we will move toward ideas, our complex bodies, and dance. We will follow tangential thought to move away from definition and closer to precision. This class is a complementary space for Athletics of Intimacy.

No Class April 2. Skinner Releasing Technique facilitates an enhanced awareness of creativity. This imagery-based movement experience intuits ease and healing. Through improvisation and play, we connect with the energy of others and the universe. We delve deeper inside and shed our notions of style and aesthetics in favor of a more intense personal discovery. Students are encouraged to enter "feeling states" and explore the limitlessness of their multi-dimensional aliveness. SRT makes for a much more clear, concise, and subtle mover and nurtures an evolved sense of empathy and compassion. Students are encouraged to write and draw at the end of class as a way of further discovering their process.

As dance artists I feel we are particularly familiar with the flow and the friction between conscious content and sub-level imagery, between concept and embodiment, thinking and sensing, between the external and internal. Much of the pleasure and meaning in performing, relating and creating for me comes from there. In this process lab I would like to share and explore with you further methods of differentiating within these realms. We shall improvise. Bring your notebook please. PART OF: Sunday Process Labs

Archiving the present. This workshop considers movement-based performance as a tool for broadening ones own artistic practice. Starting from âœnowâ we will explore the myriad understandings of presence. We will look to the sensorial, relational, personal, political, seasonal, annual etc. to uncover the layers of what constitutes âœthis moment.â Bringing the outside in and the inside out we will make a piece together in 3 hours. We will construct, compose, dismantle and play, coating layer upon layer to investigate the idea of âœdance as a documentâ of our time spent together.

This Sunday Process Lab is concerned with my working methodologies that identify, multiply, and disrupt meaning in the moment. Using whatever faculties most readily available to the practitioner in real time--movement, speech, vocal toning, song, writing--we will research the ways in which forms can be in dialogue, competition, and support of one another. MULTIPLY YOUR MAKING CAPACITY OUT OF THIN AIR BY STAYING INSIDE THE EXPERIENCE AND SQUAWKING! Using my (non) fictional improvisation methodology, the Star Crap Method, we will place perception, action and meta-commentary on a horizontal plane and then bust out some hot material on that plane, like it's a stage, tailored to the practitioner's exact specifications.

As dancers, how do we actively participate in a choreographic process? How do we care for it and ourselves? On what systems and herstories/histories do we build our own processes both inside and outside of a particular work? In this lab, we will consider how to develop tools, systems, and methods for ourselves towards openness, vulnerability, transformation, rebellion, ability and perceived lack of ability, and questions and curiosity. We will also examine ways in which participation and problematic "good behavior" as dancers might keep us from making deeper, more curious and wild choices that go against ideas of a corporatized body that aims for symmetry, homogenization and historical ideas of dancer.

"Energetic Bodies"
Energetic Bodies
In this workshop I will share my practise of experiencing movement which goes beyond our imagination and expectation. We will search for movement that we cannot plan because the body takes over and our mind follows. The body will be ready to surprise our mind. We will start to find pleasure in arriving at our physical limits and not be afraid of entering unknown fields where the energy of movement is more important than the form. We will work on my concept of âpleasure chaosâ, âstrong instabilitiesâ, âspreading vibesâ and âthe flow of durationâ. We will have fun in sweating, shaking, and letting explode all our physical power. The motto is: Not holding back. We will take the word con-temporary literally - we fill the present with our energetic physicality and feel what it means to dance contemporary, to dance in the present and move the present. *With support from Austrian Cultural Forum New York

Forsythe Phrases and Improvisation Technologies
(Part of Janet Panetta's International Dance Dialogues) William Forsythe's vision has opened new dialogues in dance. As artistic director of an extraordinary collection of dance artists, Forsythe, Ballet Frankfurt and The Forsythe Company have blazed a trail for contemporary dance for more than 20 years. One of his evolving projects was the codification of Laban-based (among other), real-time movement analysis systems called Improvisation Technologies. These concepts and methodologies are employed by the dancers not only to generate set phrases of movement but also as a tool for performed improvisation. Under the direction of longtime Forsythe dancer Elizabeth Corbett, you are invited to explore some of Forsythe's choreographed phrase work, ideas and concepts, toward accessing the inner logic and unfolding mechanisms in the work.

"I AM ONE WHO"
I AM ONE WHO
Developed during the past 21 years by RaÃna von Waldenburg and based on the physical actor training of Jerzy Grotowski and Stephen Wangh (An Acrobat of the Heart), this innovative approach to performance teaches artists to embody the present moment with barefaced sincerity. A series of physical presence exercises trains the performer to literally bring all parts of him/herself into the work, generating impulses that are utterly alive, surprisingly truthful, and emotionally resonant. Performers learn to develop constructive vocabulary for giving and receiving critical feedback in an ensemble-based environment where peers are vital to the learning process.
