zavé martohardjono is interested in performance and radical thinking
that spurs embodied healing, carves pathways to de-assimilating the
body, and contends with the political histories our bodies carry.
Their performances have been presented at the 92Y, Bemis Center for
Contemporary Art, BAAD!, Bronx Museum of the Arts, Boston Center for
the Arts, CPR, EFA Project Space, El Museo del Barrio, Gibney Dance,
HERE Arts, Issue Project Room, the Kennedy Center, La Mama, Movement
Research, Storm King Art Center, Wendy’s Subway, Wild Project, and
elsewhere. Their work has received mention in Hyperallergic and The
New York Times. zavé is a 2021 NYPL Dance Research Fellow, 2021 Gibney
Dance in Process artist, 2019 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence,
and has been in the LMCC 2017-2018 Workspace Residency, BxMA Co-Lab
residency, Shandaken: Storm King residency, Gibney Work Up 3.0, and
Chez Bushwick residency. For over a decade, Zavé has worked in social
justice and community organizing.
