Tina Valentan is a Slovenian dance artist, choreographer, and performer whose work moves between performance, improvisation, somatic approaches, and embodied research. She graduated from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam in 2007 and has since developed an artistic practice grounded in the body as a site of knowledge, memory, imagination, and transformation. Her work explores how sensation can become movement, image, language, and performative material, often shifting between movement, drawing, and writing. She is particularly interested in states of becoming, bodily knowledge that precedes language, and the ways personal experience intersects with collective and cultural layers of the body. Her artistic practice has been informed by a long-term engagement with Body-Mind Centering® principles in creative and choreographic processes. She completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Tamalpa Life/Art Process®. Her work spans stage performances, site-specific projects, participatory formats, and somatic movement practices. In 2017, she received the Ksenija Hribar Award for Outstanding Dancer/Performer. She lives and works in Slovenia.
