Nic is a queer, trans, and crip artist based in the Pacific Northwest. He is interested in practices of physical embodiment, risk taking, and trust, and exploring the joy, vulnerability and resilience of a (disabled) body in motion, with and without mobility aids.
Through long-distance running, he fell in love with speed and the shared rhythm that emerges when runners fall into sync. Over time, he’s experimented and transitioned between multiple styles of movement. He’s continually excited to try and blend new types of movement in his pursuit of joy (and speed). As part of the Bay Area Disabled Dance Collective, he led a workshop on ‘How to dance like a Roomba,’ exploring transhumanism and the joy of a dance composed of pivots and lines. As a community builder, he was a founding member of the Trans Health Collective at the Berkeley Free Clinic in Berkeley and a co-founder of the Queer, Trans and Disabled group at Trans*Ponder in Eugene.
His work at the Access. Movement. Play. residency was made possible by the labor, ideas and movement languages of Zephyrus D. Elderwood and nico conoan nieves.
