Movement Research hosts a range of Residency Programs which provide artists with a dynamic, interactive home base for inquiry, artistic research, and creative development.

Access. Movement. Play (A.M.P) Residency

Access. Movement. Play. (AMP) Residency supports emerging and multi-marginalized disabled artists who are often excluded from opportunities in the dance world. AMP is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Artist-In-Residence (AIR) Program

The MR Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program provides early career generative dance artists with support through residency fees, rehearsal space, professional development, and other formats for investigative discourse to NYC-based artists to support their creative process in a supported and constructive environment.

Van Lier Emerging Artist of Color Fellowship

The MR Van Lier Emerging Artists of Color Fellowship provides year-long creative research support, rehearsal space, mentorship, performance and related opportunities designed to support the individualized creative process of movement-based artists. The Fellowship program is supported by New York Community Trust through the Edward and Sally Van Lier Fund.

Parent Artist Residency (PAR) Program

The Parent Artist Residency (PAR) program aims to address the need for flexible and supportive creative arts services for New York City-based parent artists in the field of dance and movement-based art forms. The PAR program was funded in part by Sustainable Arts Foundation through FY2024, and is currently on hiatus from MR Programming.

Rosin Resident Artist Program

Rosin Resident Artist program (2020-2023), provided choreographers with critical developmental support in the early-to-mid-process stage of a new work that was commissioned by a partnering NYC-based presenting organization. The Rosin Resident Artist program was funded by the Scherman Foundation Rosin Fund Arts Program.
