Timmy Ong is a Malaysian actor, singer, musician, dancer, writer, and theater artist based in NYC. As a performer, Timmy enjoys working on new material, and has originated leading roles in new works on both Malaysian and US stages. Recent credits include: Lamont in “Mr. Holland’s Opus: A New Musical” (world premiere), Steve Hadley in “Project: Library”, Harriet in “Isabel”, Yuan Fan-Shen in “Dress in Code”, and Procopio in “The Sacrifice of Cassamba Becker” (Off-Broadway), for which he earned a Best Performance In A Play nomination in the BroadwayWorld Off-Broadway Awards. Selected film credits include: Gu Xian-Bo in “Red Wedding”, Grant Lin in “Input/Output”, and Ah Fu in “Serious Cat Talk”, which won Best Cinematography in Around Film Festival (ARFF) Barcelona. As a theatermaker, he is one-half of the writing partnership, The Green-Eyed Monster Project. He has created site-specific work with esteemed organizations such as Riuh, A.R.T./NY and the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA). Commissioned works include: “Second Chances”, “Soul Food”, “The Girl Who Is Not Depressed”, “This Is All I Have”, “Backstage Express”, “Catching Silhouettes”, and “The Unfolding Voyage.” His work as a solo writer/maker include: “Pandoremic”, “En Route to Flowww”, “Good Boy”, “Scoops”, and “Extraordinary Enough”. Most recently a 2024/25 Fellow of The Performance Project at University Settlement. MFA: The New School.
