New Dramaturgies Platform is a non-profit cultural organisation founded in July 2008 in Sofia on the initiative of theatre scholars Angelina Georgieva and Mira (Miroslava) Todorova. Its mission is to support, research, develop and promote innovative practices and discourse in contemporary performing arts, with a particular focus on theatre, dance and performance.
The platform provides a space for artistic research and critical discourse, stimulating diversity in artistic expression and expanding understanding of contemporary performing arts. It hosts online content (criticism, ideas, presentations of artists, practices and trends) as well as educational and training programs, discussions, dramaturgy consulting, co-productions, research, translation and publishing activities. The organisation runs a website (dramaturgynew.eu) with editorial sections dedicated to criticism and theoretical ideas about contemporary performance and dance, edited by Georgieva and Todorova. Over the years, New Dramaturgies Platform has participated in international and local collaborations — for example co-developing discussion platforms, workshops (dance practices; critical writing) and discourse exchanges on contemporary dance and performance, including international projects exploring sociopolitical dimensions of contemporary dance.
