Moksha Akil is a multidisciplinary artist that works within dance and photography. As a senior at Barnard College, she is pursuing a B.A. in Dance and History with an English minor. She has been involved with work by Irene Hultman and Ronald K. Brown/Evidence. Her recent projects include a long-form piece exploring interruption and assimilation in a dance theater framework, and a senior thesis which centers on the interaction between Blackness and experimental dance. As an artist, she is interested in catharsis within dance, and will always exist within the framework of process over product. She aims to make work that invites discomfort, inquisitiveness, and smiles.
