Experiments in Vogue is an exploration of experimental storytelling using the improvisational vogue dance style originating Black and Latin queer ballroom community. During this workshop we hope to excavate and expand our body’s stories using vogue as a technique. We aspire to create a space for queer and trans immigrants, where they can feel comfortable to experiment and improvise with vogue. This workshop is welcome to beginners and advanced voguers alike, come through! The workshop will be led by founding Mother of the Peruvian ballroom scene Inti La Prince and Luz The Odyssey.
We will start with somatic practices to find comfort within our bodies and the stories we’d like to tell with our bodies. We will then learn the five elements of vogue, learn some phrases and open the floor for experimentation and play! It will be facilitated in English, Spanish and will make space for queer immigrants of color to feel comfortable and experiment.
