We queer here, we cherish queer, even as the days seem to end. How do we make as the sun sets on some things, seemingly irrevocably? What does our queer dance mean, in the time after DEI and a global reckoning with Black Life as essential to the futures and pasts of the planet? This workshop explores queer dance and making meaning within our shared container of political crisis. Working with a structuring logic of elaboration, we’ll make queer dance to exceed normativities and replenish time with gestures of errant deliciousness. Readings, movings, and wonderings together produce the stuff of queer as meaning we need to make.
What to expect:
Short readings distributed at the beginning of the week; mind-mapping exercises of drawing ideas on paper; improvisation and moving with others in response to verbal prompts and musical prompts; discussion; short grounding lectures/information sharing from the workshop organizer.
