Coco Villa is a Jamaican-Colombian-American dancer, artist, and educator, from Queens and based in Brooklyn, NY. They studied Photography/Film and Holistic Health at Lesley College of Art and Design (2011-2015), and continued studies in dance and somatic movement at Tanzfabrik Berlin, Movement Research, American Dance Therapy Association, and Casa Cultural Cartagena. Villa has participated in residencies with Pocoapoco (2025), Drop of Sun (2023) KinoSaito (2022), Atlantic Center for the Arts (2022), Township10 (2021), and more. They’ve performed at MOMA (2024), Performance Space New York (2024),Marigny Opera House (2024), The Brooklyn Museum (2023), Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (2019), and more. Beyond their personal practice Villa has worked as a photographer, choreographer, and designer since 2013. From 2013 through 2019, Villa created and ran a fashion label, Casa de Coco, specializing in plant-based dyes and natural fiber garments. In 2019, they shifted the focus of Casa de Coco from a fashion brand to a creative home for their performance and lens based work. They support artists and businesses to realize their visions through photography and dance including Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, Joan Jonas, Sylvan Esso, Moses Sumney, Angel Olsen, SALES, Cumgirl8, Dorian Electra, Everyday Oil and more.
