Morning Movement

This class begins slowly, with a focus on arriving and self-preparation. Together, we work through an extended warm up that combines various elements of yoga, somatics, grooving and breath work, gradually releasing tension and encouraging openness in the body and mind. Through improvisation and set material, this class hopes to heighten the sensations of the weighted body to find length, clarity, and dynamics in movement.

My practice involves the exploration of movement as medium; honoring how we self-identify and speak through the body. Phrase work is then researched as a framework through which a relational awareness is activated and engaged. Seeing and being seen, feeling and making felt the unfolding experiences of movement.

This class will fall into several different pockets, embracing a range of indulgent, lush, and rigorous dance experiences.

What to expect:
This movement based class is sprinkled with moments of reflection. Please prepare for full-bodied movement, and the possibility of partner work with group discussion. The class will incorporate improvisation and set material.
