Elle Cherry (she/her/hers) is a dance scholar committed to exposing Whiteness in the dance world; choreographically she is interested in how embodied praxis can evolve theoretical research. She earned a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Dance Education from William Smith College, where she studied West African, Jamaican, and Afro-Cuban dances under Kelly Johnson. Elle graduated with an M.F.A. in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College in 2022 and held various roles as a part of Movement Research’s Programs and Events Team from 2018-2021.
Her work has been presented in Moving Landscapes at CRS Barn, and she has performed with Mayhem Dance at the Rochester Fringe Festival. She has had the pleasure of dancing with Lacina Coulibaly, Beth Gill and Kyle Marshall.
She is currently a birth doula-in-training at Carriage House Birth in Brooklyn, NY.
