Paris Cullen is a queer movement artist whose creative endeavors connect them with presence and flow— contact improvisation, breaking, aikido, visual art, singing. Originally from San Diego, they lived in Singapore for 10 years before returning to UC Santa Barbara and earning dual degrees in dance and psychology and relocating to NYC in 2018. They believe in practice, play, imagination, and collective art making to guide us into new realms of the future and are extremely grateful to the teachers they’ve been supported by, including Ivan Cofield, Anya Cloud, Defne Erdur, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Keith Hennessy, and Christina McCarthy. They’ve shared creative collaborations at Groundswell Series, BK Art Haus, CreateART, The Craft, HATCH, and Hartford Riverfront Festival. P has performed with Pilobolus, Alison Chase/Performance, Spacejunk Dance, URBAN | TRIBE, Akiko Tokuoka, Smashworks Dance, Monica Bill Barnes & Co, and Josh Pacheco Dance Theater. Paris hosts a queer contact improvisation jam in the city and hopes to empower people to move and live more embodied in their truth.
