Christine Elmo (she/her), noted by The New Yorker on two separate occasions as being a “powerhouse” and having “a playful sense of persona”, is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Purchase College, SUNY, where she was mentored by Neil Greenberg. She holds a dual BA in Classical Studies (Solomon Bluhm Scholar) and Anthropology with a minor in Archaeology from Hunter College, CUNY. She is a recipient of the Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship. She attended Archaeological field school at the University of Wyoming. In Uganda, she studied simian saltatory locomotion while under the direction of primate ecologist, Dr. Jessica Rothman. Her choreographies have been see at The Kate Werble Gallery, The Chocolate Factory Theater, Movement Research at Judson Church, Fridays at Noon at the 92nd Street Y, Dixon Place, Síraly (HU), The Bruce High Quality Foundation, Food for Thought with Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church, La MaMa, Picasso Machinery, Poetry Project, and around town with AUNTS. As a dancer she has performed in the works of Biba Bell, Nancy Garcia, Charlotte Gibbons, Neil Greenberg, Miguel Gutierrez, Elise Kermani, Paige Martin, Juliana May, Meredith Monk, Jennifer Monson, Susan Rethorst, and Vicky Shick (NYC, HU). Collaborations include Daniel Carter, Rose Troche, Jacob Wick, Eileen Myles, and Molly Gochman. Film and tv credits: Elise Kermani, Rose Troche, Treva Wurmfeld, and High Maintenance. She is a recipient of a Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grant, 2023.
