This class begins slowly, with a focus on arriving. Together, we work through an extended warm up that combines various elements of yoga, somatics, and breath work, gradually releasing tension and encouraging openness in the body and mind. Through improvisation and set material, this class hopes to impart and heighten the sensations of the weighted body to find length, clarity, and dynamics in movement. Phrase work is then researched as a framework through which a relational awareness is activated and engaged. This class will fall into several different pockets, embracing a range of indulgent, lush, and rigorous dance experiences.
