Brooke Hugot is a dance artist, performer, choreographer, and improviser with a growing interest in Dance/Performance Studies and writing. She is situated in and between NYC and Bennington College (VT) where she is a sophomore student. So far, she has had the pleasure of learning from and working with faculty Levi Gonzalez, Dana Reitz, Mina Nishimura, and Kota Yamazaki, as well as MFA Fellows luciana achugar, Erin Ellen Kelly, and Tal Shibi.
Brooke’s current work examines how having an audience affects the experience and presence of the “performer” and the choices made in the moment (by the body and/or the mind). In addition, through embodied and written research and performance, she considers form, function, content, and aesthetic, as well as capitalism and “value”, particularly in the context of the body.
