This MELT Movie Night is a screening and discussion led by mayfield brooks of Zambian British director Rungano Nyoni’s, On Becoming a Guinea Fowl. The film conjures strange scenes, costumes and a brilliant interrogation of grief and cultural norms. Nanwali Serpell of the New Yorker writes, “[The] film sits somewhere between dream and reality, between fury and grief, between fable and reckoning, between a yes and a no—or, rather, it rings out these splayed, cracked notes all at once.”
