Phoebe Berglund is an American choreographer based in NYC focusing on contemporary gestures, occupational dances, rituals and reenactments. Founder of Phoebe Berglund Dance Troupe, a group of performers that meet weekly to practice ballet and experimental dance scores. Due to Covid 19, they currently have an open air practice in a parking lot on the East River. Berglund is trained in classical ballet and American modern dance. She earned her MFA at Hunter College in Combined Media 2013 and is the recipient of the Leutz/Reidel Fellowship at the Universitat der Kunst Berlin. Recently her work has been presented at MoMA PS1, Storm King Art Center, Gallery of Academy of Music Czech Republic, The Center for Performance Research NYC, Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church, Villa Empain Brussels, New Art Dealers Alliance NY. She has been an Artist in Residence at Swatch Group in Shanghai 2019, Boghossian Foundation Brussels 2018/2019, Shandaken at Storm King Art Center 2018, MoMA PS1 2017/2018, Hunter College 2016. She has been a Visiting Artist at the University of Arts Helsinki, Finland, Virginia Commonwealth University and MoMA. Berglund has upcoming performances in London at Sadlers Wells Theater and TBD Shanghai in 2021. Her works are in the MoMA Library Collection.
