Oxana Chi

Oxana Chi is a German choreographer, dancer, filmmaker, curator and author. As the Founder and Director of Oxana Chi & Ensemble Xinren, she created 18 productions, including two commissioned works for Humboldt-University. She created her own ‘Chi Fusion style’ blending diverse techniques, such as classical European and classical Javanese dance, African Total Theater, Raks Sharki, German Ausdruckstanz and Chinese Wushu. In North America, she performed at NYU Jack Crystal Theater, Abrons Arts Center, Dixon Place, MR @ Judson Church, CUNY, BAAD!, University of Toronto, CPR, Rutgers University, Howard University among others. Chi also performed in Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Martinique, Turkey, Singapore, Ghana, Finland and the UK. Oxana Chi’s work is featured in several publications and films and received support from public and private funders. The company recently held residencies at Abrons Arts Center, Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning and Maison rouge: Maison des Arts (Martinique). Chi was honored as an Ambassador of Peace at DOSHIMA 2016 in Jakarta and is listed in the Dance Enthusiast’s 2018 A to Z of “People Who Power the Dance World”. She is a 2019 Co-Curator of Dance at the International Human Rights Art Festival.
