Lauren Bakst

Lauren Bakst is an artist working in the expanded field of choreography and performance. Her collaborative work with Yuri Masnyj is currently included in Sculpture Center's exhibition "In Practice: Material Deviance," and has previously been presented by Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, La MaMa Galleria, Danspace Project, The Drawing Center, and Pioneer Works. Her work has also been presented at MANIFESTA, Pieter, the Knockdown Center, and Abrons Arts Center, among others. Lauren was a 2014 danceWEB scholarship recipient, the 2014 R&D Fellow at the New Museum, and a 2014-16 Open Sessions artist at The Drawing Center. She is the Managing Editor of the Movement Research Performance Journal. Her writing has also been published in BOMB Magazine. Lauren teaches at the University of the Arts and at The Cooper Union. She holds a BA/BFA from Hollins University.
