Katarzyna Sitarz

Katarzyna Sitarz a is a freelance dancer, performer, choreographer, voice and movement researcher and world traveler. She deepens the secrets of traditional singing, Slavic white voice in particular, which she also explores in her performative activities. The essence of presence and collectivism is a subject of her intense preoccupation. In 2016 Katarzyna was an artist-in-residence at Old Brewery New Dance in Poznań where she created her newest solo Per-sona. She regularly performs and teaches in Europe, guesting also in Brazil, Argentina, USA, Canada and Asia. Nominated for The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative she had a pleasure to work with Trisha Brown. Awarded Tanja Liedtke Fellowship she conducted her artistic research home project in Australia. Participant of OMI International Dance Collective in Ghent, N.Y., USA and a recipient of an Artistic Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Education in The Netherlands and Poland as well as danceWEB 2010 in Vienna. For her previous work Sitarz received awards at 11th International Solo Dance Theater Festival in Stuttgart and 8th Solo International Festival in Budapest. She studied Slavic Philology at Wratislavia University (PL), Dance and Choreography at Rotterdam Dance Academy (NL) and Experimental Physical Performance at SMASH Berlin (DE).
