John Hoobyar

John Hoobyar (he/him) is a dance and theater producer, writer, and performer based in New York. He is currently Manager of Artistic Planning at BAM, where he has helped produce shows including Sun & Sea, winner of the Golden Lion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, and Nightwalks with Teenagers by the Canadian collective Mammalian Diving Reflex. In 2022, John joined the producing team of Tanz im August in Berlin, helping produce ONCE OVER TIME—a retrospective of the Swedish- Italian choreographer Christina Caprioli. His writing has appeared in Culturebot and Movement Research Performance Journal. In 2018, he co-edited the magazine of the International Salons of the 2019 German Tanzkongress, a project of the Goethe-Institut, with Moriah Evans. John has performed in work by artists including Heather Kravas, Sarah Michelson, Will Rawls, and Tino Sehgal, among others.
