Jessie Young is a Brooklyn-based choreographer, dancer and teacher originally from the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. Most recently, her work has been presented by Danspace Project (DraftWork), New York Live Arts (Fresh Tracks Artist in Residence), Links Hall, Pieter Performance Space, FringeArts, Dixon Place, DåncēHøLø and Women in Motion NYC. She has been an artist in residence with New York Live Arts (Fresh Tracks 2017-18) and Brooklyn Studios for Dance. She is currently in process with her emerging solo work “smoke not fog” in addition to working with Julie Mayo, Stephanie Acosta, Same as Sister and Isaac Pool. She has worked with Abby Z and the New Utility, The Seldoms, Kristina Isabelle Dance Company and Khecari Dance Theater, amongst others. She holds an MFA from the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign. Jessie teaches on-going dance classes in Brooklyn at Sunset Space, The Floor on Atlantic and is currently on faculty for Lions Jaw Performance + Dance Festival and at Rutgers University.
