Jānis Putniņš
Jānis Putniņš is a dancer, choreographer and performing artist representing Latvia. Member of the Choreographers Association of Latvia and Artists Union “ ARA”. Educated in Latvian Academy of Culture, BA (2015) in Contemporary Dance Choreography and Humanities and MA (2017) in Contemporary Dance Dramaturgy and Contemporary Dance Art.
His artistic ideas and movement language are greatly influenced by Chinese classical
dance, martial arts and education in specific contemporary dance technique – dynamic release by Olga Zitluhina. As well as practices of dynamic meditations and awareness, authentic movement etc. and his own work with movement research in contemporary dance technique - the way of functionality, physicality, movement kinetics and organization of body as itself.
As a dancer Jānis has performed in wide spectrum of dance and movement forms, improvisation and contact improvisation performances, physical theatre and movement based performances on the stage of the drama theatre, as a dancer and actor. As a biggest figures of influence of his dance language he seeing Tao Han (CHN) – master of Chinese classical dance and Gregor Luštek (SLO) contemporary dance teacher and choreographer who made attempt to merge contemporary dance principles of his own together with those of Chinese classical dance.
