IV Castellanos and Amanda Hunt

Our collaborative practice begins with each of our various disciplinary backgrounds; Castellanos in sculpture and abstract performance art, Hunt in theater, dance, and performance art, to arrive at a place where we are utilizing all forms but ultimately stand between them. Our performances involve hand-made objects that over the course of the performance are destroyed with precision, manipulated to become something else, and/or are intercepted with our bodies. We incorporate choreography that is rigorous and aesthetically nods to athleticism, labor, Queerness, and risk which we navigate in studio with actions that have flexible possibilities to achieve the visual outcome we are interested in while being safe with consciousness. The inherent failure is embedded in a live action.
