He Jin Jang

Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, He Jin Jang plays many different roles in serving "the choreographic." As a multi-city based choreographer/performer/dramaturg/curator/educator, Jang creates site-sensitive  projects that are in conversation with the issues of migration/habitats/co-location. Her projects were presented and supported by MODAFE International Festival (Korea, 2016), KAMS Next Step Grant (Korea, 2016), Ocean Arts Research Lab (Korea, 2015), Danginlee Power Plant Living Lab (Korea, 2015), Fresh Tracks at New York Live Arts (US, 2014-15), American Dance Festival (US, 2013), Volkshochschule (Switzerland, 2012), National Museum of Contemporary Arts in Bucharest (Romania, 2011), DanceWeb (Austria, 2011), Movement Research, and Arts Council Korea Fellowship (Korea, '09-11) among many. Jang’s teaching/mentoring/advising credit includes Korea National Contemporary Dance Company (Advisory Committee, Master Class Lecture, Curator, Dramaturg, 2016), Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture/Seoul Dance Center (Selection Panel & Advisory Committee, 2015-16), New York Foundation for the Arts (Mentor, 2014), Hollins University (Assistant Professor, 2011-14), among others.
