Donna Carnow is a Brooklyn-based choreographer, performer, teacher, and artist. Originally from the Chicago-land area, Donna holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated as a James Scholar with honors. During her time in Urbana, Donna had the pleasure of performing in works by Kendra Portier, David Dorfman, Tere O’Connor, the Jess Pretty Ballet, Jessie Young, Charli Brissey, and others.
Donna is also a pole dance artist and an aerialist. Currently, Donna is an instructor at Body & Pole, performs with the aerial dance company AERA, and shows her art on a regular basis in both concert and nightlife spaces. Donna continues to develop her own choreographic work investigating the integration of both pole and contemporary dance vocabularies in ways that work to challenge expectations of both space and form through her prioritization of labor, duration, and physically rigorous tasks.
When not at Movement Research or flying in the air, Donna holds the role of Studio Assistant at CorePower Yoga Flatiron. There she teaches power vinyasa yoga and holds a large role in leading CorePower Yoga's teacher training programs. Donna is thrilled to be a part of the staff at Movement Research and is excited to continue supporting the magic of movement and the people who conjure it.
