Carroll Simmons is a Brooklyn and Toronto-based performance collective founded by Jaime Wright & David Bernstein in 2013. Their core values include formalist presentationalism, poetic autobiography, and the mental gestures of musical theater (“showz”). Their signature project, Too Many Lenas, was performed at Dixon Place, Ars Nova, and The New Ohio. Excerpts of Oak Park: as queer as talking, were presented at Panoply Performance Laboratory and Dixon Place. Most recently, they performed The Carroll Simmons Guide to Queer Foods over Skype at Cloud City. The Founders have presented work at The Public, Total Rejects Live!, Pussy Faggot, La Mama, and The Citadel/Coleman Lemieux Compagnie in Toronto. Their work has been described as "puzzlingly diffuse" by The New York Times, and “loving” by Bedford and Bowery.
