Bina Sharif is a playwright/actress/director/performance artist and visual artist. She has written 34 plays so far and 30 of them had been produced in various downtown venues such as Theater For The New City, P.S. 122, Dixon place, Manchester England, Toronto, Pakistan where she was awarded the best actress/writer for her one woman show titled, AFGHAN WOMAN, a response to Sept 11. This play was performed in many university theaters off and on for eight years and is translated in Arabic.
She was nominated for Joseph Jefferson award at Chicago's Goodman Theater, best supporting actress where she met Tennessee Williams, the highlight of her life's experience. She also has an MD from Pakistan and masters in Public health from John Hopkins university. Florida university in Tempa celebrated her one woman play 2 years ago called, 30 years, 30 plays, excerpts from some of her previous plays.
