Aurora Prelević is a writer and a mover. Her poetry and essays explore embodiment, health and illness, violence, conflict and reconciliation, grief, ritual and inter and transgenerational trauma, somewhere at the intersection of memory, performance, and gender studies. Her movement practice interrogates interrelated themes using experimental and improvisational dance to access ancestry, ceremony, community, healing, and intimacy.
Born in Montréal, she is a second-generation Canadian with strong Yugoslav roots, and writes often about the Balkans, emigration, identity and belonging. Aurora is now based in Brooklyn and holds an MA from the New School for Social Research. A longtime yoga practitioner and teacher in hatha, yin, and restorative styles, she is also an herbalist whose focus is on medicine making, which she also teaches.
