Performa 09: Auf den Tisch! at BAC

“There is no discourse in New York!”

“There is discourse in private, but not in the open.”

“Artists are struggling just to make the work and don’t have time to talk about it, too.”

Auf den Tisch! was an opportunity for discourse, provoked it even, with statements like those above. But most of us at the dress rehearsal were feeling too shy, or the alchemy wasn’t quite right, to dig in.

So. Are you happy with the level of discourse in this city?

To quote Sarah Maxfield’s fantastic Inquisitive Owl blog, artists have all the power we choose to take. Complaint without action gives that power away.
