Yasuko Yokoshi was born in Hiroshima, Japan. She currently lives and works in New York City. Yokoshi's works, which combine different disciplines and mediums, have been presented at Danspace Project, Guggenheim Museum, Japan Society, The Kitchen, MASS MoCA, PS122, Whitney Museum of American Art, and abroad at Festival a/d Werf (Holland), Festival Sommer SIZEN (Austria) and Frascati Theater (Holland). Her projects have been supported by Creative Capital, Greenwall Foundation, Japan Foundation, Jerome Foundation, Map Fund, and NDP. She has received residencies from Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Djerassi Art Center, Joyce Theater Foundation, MANCC Center for Choreography, Movement Research, and Vermont Performance Lab. Yokoshi received BESSIE Awards for "Shuffle" in 2003 and for "what we when we" in 2006. She is the recipient of 2007 BAXTen Award and a 2008 Foundation for Contemporary Arts award.
