Paige Martin has been making her own brand of dance since the early 90's, often utilizing the more underground venues of New York. Her movement focuses on a quality of being that, although recognizable when in front of us, is otherwise overlooked. Perhaps caught only as a glimmer in ones daily life, it continues to remind us of the largeness (strangeness) of ourselves. Simultaneous to this innate drive, she finds ways to take the question out of dance for the un-initiated viewer. Not bashful about making dance that is entertaining on the surface, below exist multiple layers of meaning. Her dances have been seen at The Knitting Factory, P.S.122, Danspace Project at St. Marks Church, The Ontological-Hysterical Theater, DixonPlace, Movement Research at The Judson Church, The Kitchen, and The N.Y. Improvisation Festival.A Bessie award-winning dancer, she has performed in the works of Sally Silvers, Scotty Herron, Sarah Michelson, Juliette Mapp, RoseAnne Spradlin and has been a member of Dance by Neil Greenberg since 1995.
