Daria Faïn is a native of Antibes, France. Her choreographic work is a fusion of her European culture with two decades of practice in the Asian philosophy of the body and American dance training. In France, Faïn received awards from the Concours Internationale de Choregraphie de Bagnolet. She was also awarded grants from the French Ministry of Culture for three of her projects. She has studied architecture and conducted research on the mutual influence of architecture and human behavior. Faïn was sponsored by the Research Section in Architecture of the Ministry of Urbanism for her project/research on Le Corbusier and gave several lectures on this subject. Over the years Faïn’s choreographic research has led her to work with psychotics, as well as those with other mental disorders, and blind-deaf individuals, from whom she learned about the body as a resource of knowledge. In New York, Faïn's work has been seen at The Kitchen, Danspace Project, PS122 and the 92nd Street Y among other places. Her writing can be found in the Movement Research Performing Journal #12th, 13th, 28, 30 and 31st.
