Cheap Cake Dance Club was created after its members participated in a Movement Research MELT workshop. We are a research/improvisation/performance group committed to creating processes in which we have the opportunity to feel the value our art form, primarily by engaging in dialogue about and questioning of the organizing principles of dance. Our intentions are: to bring the processes of process to the forefront; to reveal, examine and refine and utilize the invisibles; to stay true to our interests and follow those that arise; to constantly re-orient. Our research can be done in any context, and is often organized around a preexisting set of circumstances or event. Cheap Cake is also committed to having a good time doing what we love with our friends, and sharing that with anyone who wants to participate. Cheap Cake members are Maggie Bennett, Megan Byrne, Jacob Kovner, Marilyn Maywald, Steven Reker.
