technical (and) improvisation work

a two day workshop led by Salva Sanchis

10 am - 2 pm, wed 5/28 & fri 05/30

judson memorial church gym, $80, register online

Take advantage of this exciting opportunity to study with Brussels-based choreographer and dancer Salva Sanchis. Participants will improve the fluidity of their actions by establishing a purposeful and clear relationship with the floor at all times, and by integrating all parts of the body in action. Sanchis is interested in exploring movement that is expressive as a consequence of its functionality. Instead of learning set material, improvisation will be used in a technical way. This will allow participants to dance more fluently with more tools at their disposal.

CATCH 30 (dirty dirty thirty)

curated and hosted by Jeff Larson & Andrew Dinwiddie

8pm

starr street projects, $10

"Everyone's favorite performance series," Catch is celebrating its 5th anniversary with a lineup of artists from NYC and some special visitors from Minneapolis. After swooping into Minneapolis in the dead of winter with January's ridiculously sold-out Catch 28, a handful of dastardly and determined Minneapolitans are laying siege to Brooklyn, resulting in a devastatingly kick-ass evening of performance from two of the nation's best art cities. Featuring: Christine Elmo, HIJACK, JERK, Justin Jones, Myles Kane, Elliott Durko Lynch, Scott Riehs, Chris Schlichting, shitheads on dynamite/ living lab, and Anna Marie Shogren & Katie Rose McLaughlin.
