I am interested in making work that does not fit into any one existing framework but that is a construction that cycles through, interacts with and reacts to all structures it comes in contact with. Born and raised in San Francisco, California by a former CIA member turned Buddhist, turned interior designer and a Buddhist Monk, I continue to be influenced in all aspects of my life by the experience of witnessing at a young age the human desire to engineer earthquake resistant infrastructures; the attempt to create the most balanced relationship possible with incalculable forces by building structures stable in their flexibility.
My practice insists on a continuous evaluation of both the limits and possibilities of creating experiential events. My approach to making work is through the dance and performance medium, but the meaning of the work lies in creating relationship with my surroundings. The dynamic of the work lies in the tension between the work, both its creation and performance, and its actual location. The essence of the work is in the maintenance and devotion to openness and adaptation.
