Noopur Singha studied Manipuri Dance predominantly with her father, Guru Nabaghana Shyam Singha, as well as with Oja Thambal Tombi Devi in Imphal, Manipur. She graduated from SUNY Purchase in 2005. That same year, she was also a recipient of the Darmasiswa RI Scholarship to study Balinese Dance at the Art Institute of Indonesia in Denpasar, Bali; while there, studying intensively with Agung Oka Partini. She is currently working with Eagle Ager, Surati Inc and Santi Budaya, as well as teaching and performing Manipuri dance at Lotus Music and Dance.
In early 2007 she was a Maryland Choreographer's Showcase awardee for the duet, Kids & Science, as curated by Jeanine Durning and Janet Brenner. In the spring of 2007 she received funds from the Jerome Foundation for the creation of KO6, as part of Mulberry St. Theater's Ear to the Ground Commissioning Series, where she collaborated on the creation of a sound score with Stephe Cooper. She is a FY 2008 recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award in Solo Dance Performance which will fund a research stay in Manipur, India in early 2009.
