Urban Chorology: Timelines in Park Slope

Prospect Park to Gowanus: Meet at 9th St. and Prospect Park West

Urban Chorology is a walk that investigates the 'choreography' of time inherent in, under, and around the layers of the urban landscape. Chorology studies the character of regions and places through understanding the interrelation between different realms of reality and their varied manifestations. Walkers will choose from a number of routes and activities. The Carroll Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal will be featured and the walk will end at Four & Twenty Blackbirds Bakery in the Gowanus.

Slow Falls

Gowanus: 3rd Ave. between 1st St. and 8th St.
5-7:30pm. FREE.

4 dancers, starting 6 minutes apart, mark 24 slow falls in 139 minutes on
6 building exteriors. The dance begins at 3rd Ave. and 1st St. and moves up the Avenue to end around the corner from Four & Twenty Blackbirds on 8th St., just above 3rd Ave.

1st Fall (1 min)--3rd Ave. between 1st & 2nd St.
2nd Fall (5 mins)--same block across 3rd Ave.
3rd Fall (10 mins)--3rd Ave. at 3rd St.
4th Fall (15 mins)--6th St. between 3rd & 4th Ave.
5th Fall (30 mins) 3rd Ave. between 6th & 7th St.
6th Fall (60 mins) 8th St. between 3rd & 4th Ave. (Four & Twenty Blackbirds)

Urban Chorology: Timelines in Park Slope and Slow Falls take place at the same time and can be viewed separately or in tandem.
